Not only do I benefit from my restorative daily woodland walks, I am also rewarded with endless visual stimuli and superb influences for my work. Living in the Charnwood area is a real privilege. These paintings study the effects of light and shadow in the environment, how they are responsible for amplifying form, pattern and texture, and how together these elements create a strong sense of atmosphere. Backlighting in particular has the power to transform commonplace scenes into stark images of beauty. |
